It's the time of year when the wind starts to blow and temperatures start to drop. If you're in the south, this is a welcome relief from the punishing heat of summer and a time to start planting. But the further north you go, this is the beginning of the end for the 2015 growing season.

Northern growers will get a shot of cold air this weekend, something that will bring freezing temps to many areas. If you've got sensitive houseplants outside, or anything in the garden you want to save, this is the time to bring it inside if temperatures are forecast to be near the low 30's. If temperatures are forecast to mid 30's, a bed sheet will help protect sensitive plants, but anything tropical should be brought inside anywhere below 45 degrees.
Southern and Western growers can think about starting just about any plants including tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, melons, and more.
